Skyline is excellent for novice backcountry adventurers. Tye Peak offers route variations for advanced skiers, especially when the avalanche danger is high after a large snowfall.

Just beyond Stevens Pass Ski Area, Yodelin is an excellent novice area that is also appealing to experienced skiers on low visibilty/high avalanche days due to low slope angle.

The Chiwaukum Range lies west of Leavenworth and can be seen from the Stevens Pass Ski Area. The range does not have any glaciers and includes numerous opportunities for excellent skiing.

Jim Hill is a popular backcountry destination due to easy access, moderate angles, and alpine bowl.

For those seeking an endurance challange, 3 mountains (Rock Mountain, Mount Howard, and Mount Mastiff) in one day will satisfy your craving. Note: The start/end are not the same and it's preferable to leave a car/bike at milepost 76.1 at the Merritt Lake Trailhead off of HWY 2. This is 3 miles east of milepost 73.1 where the Rock Mountain trailhead is located.

Lichtenberg Mountain is a popular destination because skiing is available on all aspects of the mountain with enough variety to ensure all skill levels are properly challenged.
